Plances.

How do you create a meaningful connection with nature in an urban environment?

This work was a collaboration with the German start-up Plances.de to develop a smart irrigation system for plant care in small urban spaces such as balconies. The project involved defining the design language of the system to be a marriage of functional and biophilic design to create a product with an identity that fosters a connection to nature.

A Family

of Products.

The result is an array of products that integrate through a pegging system to create a modular and dynamic solution for greenifying small urban spaces.

Pot Hook.

This element integrates with the peg board system to provide a dynamic and fluid means of placing plant pots on walls/railings. The elegant sliding latch affords a secure attachment while maintaining ease of use. The latch also allows the user to mount a wide range of pot sizes, or even longer planters by using multiple hooks.

Clothes line

This element allows the user to maximize the utility of their new green space by creating an integrated system for air-drying laundry. This product acknowledges that urban living can be space-limiting and the Plances system understands and adapts to this.

Shelf

This shelving solution inspired by French cleats allows for easy and strong shelving implementation into the Plances system. The mechanism in which the shelf attaches is continuous around its perimeter which allows for dynamic placement giving the user freedom to make their space fit for them.
